Star junior point guard Matt Farrell and older brother Bo, a first lieutenant who
had been deployed in Afghanistan, had a surprise meeting after Notre Dame's 77‑62
win versus Colgate Dec. 19. Farrell was in tears when Bo sent a Christmas video mes‑
sage on the video scoreboard — with Matt not expecting to see him until February.
Instead, Bo appeared in person from a locker room shortly after the video. The
reunion became a popular rerun broadcast nationally.
