(committed to Penn State); OL James Ohonba of Stockbridge, Ga. (no longer considering Notre Dame); and DB Marcus Johnson of Los Angeles (committed to USC). • The Irish staff made an offer Jan. 6 to Mesa (Ariz.) Desert Ridge three-star defensive end Jalen Harris, who is committed to Arizona. New Irish defensive coordinator Mike Elko continues to expand the board to try and find pass rushers to add to the 2017 class. It is still too early to tell if Harris is interested in what Notre Dame has to offer. On Jan. 4, the Irish extended an offer to Kapolei (Hawai'i) High three-star Myron Tagovailoa-Amosa. The senior has a tight January schedule with all-star games, including the Polynesian Bowl, but his high school head coach Darren Hernandez believes Tagovailoa-Amosa will try his best to squeeze in a trip to South Bend. If a visit occurs, Notre Dame could become the favorite. Hernandez told Blue & Gold Illustrated he thinks Notre Dame, USC, Georgia Tech, Vanderbilt and Oregon are the programs standing out the most to Tagovailoa-Amosa. He has taken of- ficials to USC and Georgia Tech. • A couple new names are now on the board for the Irish in recent weeks during the two postseason all-star games in the Under Armour All-America Game and the U.S. Army All-American Bowl. Richmond (Va.) Benedictine School standout Ellis Brooks, who is ranked as the No. 9 inside linebacker and No. 235 player nationally by Rivals, announced at the Under Armour All-American Game that he would be taking an official visit to South Bend Jan. 27, which is the last weekend to visit before National Signing Day. The timing of the visit could work out very well for Notre Dame. During the week of U.S. Army All-American Bowl prac- tices, 2017 defensive end Jarez Parks of Sebastian (Fla.) River told Rivals he was considering taking an official visit to Notre Dame following conversations he had with four-star Irish commits tight end Cole Kmet and offensive lineman Josh Lugg, who were both participating in the game as well. Notre Dame is battling multiple schools, including USC, to get the final visit from Parks. The No. 3 weakside defen- sive end and No. 47 overall player nationally has officially visited Auburn and Florida State, and plans to tour Alabama and Florida.
