The next was an interception. He ended up connecting on 5 of 10 throws for 57 yards and also showed an ability to lower his shoulder in the run game, picking up 15 yards on three designed rushes. Notre Dame's big Offense names on defense watched most of the game from the sideline, but new faces like line- backers Jarrett Grace, Anthony Rabasa and Williams made a push to become contributors next fall. Williams re- covered a fumble to go along with his intercep- tion and three tackles. Potential starting cor- leader Kendall Moore, and broke up a pair of fade passes in the end zone. "He's not 4.3. He's not blazing speed. But we don't need him to do that. We need him to defend the post, stay above the cut and be a good tackler, and he showed a lot of that today." The devil remains in the details for Wood, the Irish quarterbacks and the majority of Kelly's roster as they close out their third spring ses- sion under the current coaching regime. Atten- tion to detail is the next step forward for a team that Kelly said came to- gether as a group this spring. That will be the focus for each player until August when the team reconvenes. Kelly said, especially when it comes to quarterbacks, the player who does the best job of focusing on details this summer will likely be his starter in the fall. ✦ BLUE & GOLD ILLUSTRATED
