IMG Academy defensive back Houston Griffith. Rivals' No. 5 safety and No. 47 overall player in the nation took an official visit to Notre Dame for the Georgia game Sept. 9, and told Blue & Gold Illustrated that despite reports to the contrary, there never came a point where he stopped considering the Irish. Defensive backs coach Todd Lyght and defen‑ sive coordinator Mike Elko are leading the charge on Griffith's recruitment, and his relationship with the Irish coaches is one of the main reasons he decided to visit. Griffith will take more official visits throughout the season, including to Florida State Sept. 16. He plans on announcing his com‑ mitment sometime before the end of his senior season. • Notre Dame is in line to host several big‑time class of 2019 prospects on visits throughout the rest of the season. Alexandria (Va.) Episcopal three‑star safety Litchfield Ajavon will visit South Bend for the second time Sept. 30, when the Irish take on Miami (Ohio). When USC comes to town Oct. 21, Notre Dame will host two Rivals250 linemen. Edina (Minn.) High offensive lineman Quinn Carroll, the No. 71 overall player in the nation, will make his second visit to South Bend, while Sachse (Texas) High defensive end Hunter Spears will make his first. Spears is rated by Rivals as the No. 241 overall player in the junior class. Notre Dame will host Navy Nov. 18, and Metuchen (N.J.) St. Joseph's four‑star offensive tackle John Olmstead will be in attendance. The game will be the second trip to South Bend for Olmstead, who Rivals rates as the No. 8 offensive tackle and No. 59 overall player in the class of 2019. • New Orleans McDonogh 35 High 2018 wide receiver Lawrence Keys is a top priority for the Irish coaching staff and is still working on a visit to campus. Keys recently told Blue & Gold Illustrated that he hopes to visit South Bend Oct. 21 when the Irish host USC, but those plans have not yet been fully confirmed. Keys has Notre Dame on the list of his top six schools along with LSU, Houston, Auburn, Ne‑ braska and TCU. — Corey Bodden and David McKinney Follow @BGI_CoreyBodden and @BGI_DMcKinney on Twitter for daily recruiting updates available on BlueandGold.com!
