22 ■ THE WOLFPACKER TRACKING THE PACK wolfpacker spotlight DOMINIQUE CLAIRMONTE Redshirt Freshman Women's Cross Country Redshirt freshman Dominique Clairmonte came through in the clutch to help NC State place first at the ACC Championships Oct. 27 in Louisville, Ky. Clairmonte led the way for NC State with a third-place individual finish (19 minutes, 59 seconds) to help the Wolfpack accumulate 43 points. All five NCSU runners finished in the top 21, with each earning All-ACC honors. Clairmonte started the season as the Wolfpack's third runner through the first two meets. She finished third behind teammates Beth Taye and Elly Henes at the adidas XC Challenge Sept. 15 in Cary, N.C. She followed up with a 19th-place showing at the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational Sept. 29 in South Bend, Ind. Clairmonte broke out at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational Oct. 13 in Madison, Wis. She was the Wolfpack's top finisher, crossing the finish line 16th overall (20:13.40) in helping the team place third. That helped set the stage for her terrific effort at the ACC Championships, creating momentum for the NCAA Southeast Regional Championships Nov. 10 in Charlottesville, Va. The Lexington (Ohio) High product redshirted during cross country and track and field last year for the Wolfpack. She arrived in Raleigh as a four-time Ohio state track champion in 2015 — winning the 1,600-meter indoor and outdoor titles and the 3,200 indoor and outdoor races.
