30 ■ THE WOLFPACKER The run blocking has helped NC State average 161.5 yards per game and 4.4 per carry. Junior running back Nyheim Hines had three straight games where he gained more than 100 yards, which was snapped when he injured his ankle against Notre Dame. Adams' role at right guard has been cru- cial in helping the offensive line come to- gether. "Your job is to protect the quarterback, and protect the running back and block for the running back," Adams said. "We just make sure we do what we do every day in practice to make sure our technique is correct. "It shows up on game day. The fact that Ryan is clean is the best feeling ever." Adams has managed to earn the respect of his teammates and NC State coaches, and when he speaks, everyone listens. In fact, head coach Dave Doeren ribbed Adams about how loquacious he can be with the media and how he needs to be that way in the locker room, too. "I think a lot of our guys on the team were playing young," Doeren said. "When you are a young player and haven't built a résumé yet, it's hard to stand in front of a team with guys older than you and talk like they are supposed to listen, because you haven't done it yet. "Even though you know there are cer- tain things that should be said, you don't have the credibility yet. Now, Tony feels that way." Having all five starters from the same re- cruiting class — Adams and redshirt juniors right tackle Will Richardson, left tackle Ty- ler Jones, left guard Terronne Prescod and center Garrett Bradbury — has created a bond and love amongst the group. The guys can speak more clearly since the statements are coming from the heart. "That is a great class and guys that have stuck through it," Doeren said. "A lot of Finding His Voice Four-Year Offensive Lineman Tony Adams Has Been A Leader For The Pack Adams has started four years at right guard and surpassed 3,000 career snaps from scrimmage against Notre Dame. PHOTO BY BILL PANZICA BY JACEY ZEMBAL N C State senior right guard Tony Adams is allowing his leadership voice to be heard. Adams is going to go down in NC State laurels as the rare four-year starter and resident iron man. The 6-2, 315-pounder from Charlotte has started 43 of the 46 games he has played in through eight games of his senior campaign. No player on the current squad has played more snaps. He crossed the 3,000- play barrier on the first offensive snap of the Notre Dame game Oct. 28, with his total now at 3,062 going into the game against Clemson. Adams is part of a NCSU offensive line that has done a terrific job protecting redshirt junior quarterback Ryan Finley. The veteran crew, who are all from the same 2014 recruiting class, didn't allow a quarterback sack through the first four ACC games and just nine during the Wolfpack's 6-2 start.
