Commitment Updates Games played Oct. 26-28 unless otherwise noted • Notre Dame is looking to add at least one more offensive lineman to its 2018 class, which includes Rivals three-star tackles Cole Mabry of Brentwood (Tenn.) High and John Dirksen of Maria Stein (Ohio) Marion Local. Tampa (Fla.) Berkeley Prep product Nick Petit-Frere, who Rivals ranks as the No. 13 of- fensive tackle and No. 175 overall player nationally, took an official to South Bend for the USC game Oct. 21. Petit-Frere is a top target along the offensive line. The Irish will get a chance to host one of the na- tion's top offensive linemen Dec. 9, when Knoxville (Tenn.) Catholic 2018 five-star offensive tackle Cade Mays, Rivals' No. 2 tackle and No. 14 overall player in the country, takes an official visit to Notre Dame. Offensive coordinator Chip Long is putting in ef- fort recruiting the talented Mays and stopped by his school during Notre Dame's bye week. Alabama, Clemson, Georgia and Ohio State are also battling Notre Dame to flip the Tennessee legacy. • Even though the Irish have three linebackers al- ready committed, the staff is making an effort to add another top player to the group. Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei standout Solomon Tuliaupupu, whom Rivals ranks as the No. 3 inside linebacker and No. 84 overall player nationally, took an official for the USC game and came away impressed with what he saw on and off the field. Notre Dame will get the chance to impress an- other talented linebacker — Hillsborough (N.C.) Or- ange County four-star linebacker and North Carolina commit Payton Wilson, the nation's No. 7 outside linebacker and No. 133 overall player, will take an of- ficial visit to Notre Dame Nov. 18 for the Navy game. Wilson recently suffered an ACL injury, and surgery could change the date of his Irish official, but he plans to give Notre Dame a chance to try and sway his commitment from the Tar Heels. • During the weekend of the North Carolina State game, Notre Dame hosted two potential cornerback targets: Manchester (Tenn.) Coffee County Central athlete Alontae Taylor and Washington (D.C.) H.D. Woodson cornerback Noah Boykin. Taylor, whom Rivals ranks as the No. 25 wide re- ceiver and No. 133 overall player nationally, was initially told the staff wanted him at cornerback. But during the visit, the staff mentioned he could play either side of the ball. That resonated with Taylor, who likes to have the ball in his hands. He also told Blue & Gold Illustrated he liked the community feel Notre Dame presents and the passion of the Irish fan base. Georgia is an- other program trying to flip the Tennessee commit. After his visit, Boykin said Notre Dame is a place where he can see himself thriving. Boykin, who Ri- vals ranks as the No. 24 cornerback in the country, was impressed by Notre Dame, both on and off the field with an emphasis on the latter. The senior is taking the process one step at a time, but it seems Notre Dame gave him plenty to consider. — Corey Bodden and David McKinney RECRUITING NOTES Follow @BGI_CoreyBodden and @BGI_DMcKinney on Twitter for daily recruiting updates available on BlueandGold.com!
