28 CAVALIER CORNER On Thursday, November 9 VAF hosted a UVA Lacrosse Social at the New York Athletic Club. Special guest speakers included head women's lacrosse coach Julie Myers and head men's lacrosse coach Lars Tiffany. After spending time mingling with guests, which included lacrosse alumni and VAF donors, each shared updates on their current pro - grams. We look forward to watching them in action this spring. The 7th Annual VAF 40-year Milestone Cel- ebration was held the weekend of October 20 and 21 around the Virginia football game versus Boston College. The celebration, which honored all VAF members who reached their 40th an- niversary for consecutive years of giving in 2016, featured a dinner on that Friday evening at Morven Farm and an on-field recognition at the football game on Saturday. To begin the festivities, honorees were treated to a performance by the Virginia Gentlemen at Morven prior to dinner. Afterwards, the formal program opened with Dirk Katstra taking a look back at Virginia Athletics over the past 40 years, followed by Craig Littlepage who thanked the group for their longtime support before intro - ducing the evening's keynote speaker, head women's golf coach, Kim Lewellen. Lewellen remarked about the importance of such loyal support and shared anecdotes from how that support has positively impacted her own pro- gram in countless ways.
