MARCH 2018 THE WOLVERINE 27 men Christi, 40-34, during that title game — Ithaca's only loss on the sea- son. Since 2010, Ithaca is 107-3 and won state titles in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2015. JOEY GEORGE C/G • 6-0, 275 Walled Lake (Mich.) Western George anchored the middle of the offensive line for a Walled Lake West- ern team that finished 8-2 in 2017. Af- ter a strong senior campaign, George was an honorable mention for the As- sociated Press Division 1-2 All-State Team. MICHAEL GERACI WR • 6-2, 180 Ramsey (N.J.) Don Bosco Prep Geraci impressed the Michigan coaches at their Sacred Heart satel- lite camp, but then missed his senior season due to a concussion suffered in August. The coaches saw enough dur- ing the summer to offer him a spot as a preferred walk-on, which he accepted over an offer from Army and potential opportunities at Yale, Princeton and Columbia. OWEN GOLDSBERRY ATH • 6-1, 195 Arlington Heights (Ill.) Hersey During the recruiting process, Goldsberry — a high school quar- terback and safety — picked up of- fers from South Dakota, Illinois State, South Dakota State, North Dakota, Southern Illinois, Western Illinois, Indiana State, Youngstown State and Harvard, among others, but chose the special opportunity at U-M over them all. As a junior, Goldsberry was named to the Northwest All-Area team after completing 98 of 175 passes (56.0 per- cent) for 1,461 yards with nine touch- downs. He also rushed for 538 yards and four scores. As a senior, Goldsberry was named the Mid-Suburban League East Offen- sive Player of the Year after connecting on 81 for 138 throws (58.7 percent) for 1,339 yards and 12 touchdowns. He also scored 19 touchdowns on the ground and ran for 1,126 yards on 169 carries (6.7 yards per attempt). He was also honored as a special mention for The News-Gazette All-State Football Team after his impressive se- nior campaign. KYLE GRADY QB • 6-3, 175 San Diego Point Loma The senior completed 77 of 135 throws (57.0 percent) for 1,249 yards with 12 touchdowns and six intercep- tions as a senior. He also carried the ball 92 times for 525 yards (5.7 yards per attempt) and eight scores. Grady shines in the classroom as well and was named to The San Di- ego Union-Tribune All-Academic Team with a 4.25 GPA. Columbia, Harvard, MIT, Princeton, Stanford and Yale were all interested in Grady before he chose to walk on at U-M. MAX WITTWER QB • 6-2, 193 Utica (Mich.) Eisenhower Wittwer and his Eisenhower Eagles rolled through the 2017 season until they ran into West Bloomfield in the third round of the Division I state playoffs. Eisenhower lost 28-25 on that day in November and finished the year 11-1. During his senior season, Wittwer passed for 1,249 yards and 12 touch- downs, and also racked up 525 yards and eight scores on the ground, de- spite missing significant time due to a knee injury and several blowout wins. As a junior, he threw for more than 1,900 yards and 21 scores and added 920 yards and nine touchdowns rushing. Wittwer was recognized as an hon- orable mention for the Associated Press Division 1-2 All-State Team and also finished in the top 10 for MLive's Player of the Year award. He was ranked No. 52 on The Detroit News' Blue Chips list of the state's best players. The athletic quarterback was originally committed to Air Force but opted to walk on at Michigan instead. He also had an offer from Eastern Kentucky and a full-ride op- portunity from Eastern Michigan. Iowa and Michigan State also kicked the tires on Wittwer throughout the recruiting process. The Michigan native also thrives in the classroom, boasting a 3.83 GPA. — Brandon Brown Michigan In The Rivals.com Team Rankings Year Signees Rank 5-Stars 4-Stars 3-Stars 2018 19 No. 24 0 7 11 2017 30 No. 4 3 16 9 2016 29 No. 4 1 15 12 2015 14 No. 50 0 6 6 2014 16 No. 31 1 6 8 2013 27 No. 5 1 16 9 2012 25 No. 7 2 10 13 2011 20 No. 21 0 6 13 2010 27 No. 20 0 6 20 2009 22 No. 8 1 13 6 2008 24 No. 10 0 17 6 2007 20 No. 12 2 5 12 2006 19 No. 13 2 9 7 2005 23 No. 6 1 10 11 2004 22 No. 5 1 12 8 2003 17 No. 17 2 11 3 2002 22 No. 16 1 11 9 San Diego Point Loma quarterback Kyle Grady, who will come to Michigan as a pre- ferred walk-on, threw for 1,249 yards and rushed for another 525 yards as a senior.
