42 ■ THE WOLFPACKER FOOTBALL PREVIEW 2019 Three Key Games AT BOSTON COLLEGE, Oct. 19 Winning at Boston College is always a tricky proposition for NC State (3-6 all time). How- ever, the Wolfpack won in Chestnut Hill, Mass., in 2017 and then came through with a 28-23 victory last year to give the Pack two straight victories over the Eagles for the first time ever. But the Eagles were without star junior running back AJ Dillon, who has 2,697 career rush- ing yards and 24 touchdowns. He is 1,905 rushing yards away from NC State's Ted Brown, who holds the ACC career mark (4,602). AT WAKE FOREST, Nov. 2 Months after NC State's 27-23 home loss to Wake Forest, Wolfpack fans were still lament- ing the game that got away. Backup quarterback Jamie Newman, in his first start, helped the Demon Deacons rally from a 23-13 fourth-quarter deficit and threw a 32-yard touchdown pass to tight end Jack Freudenthal with 30 seconds left for the win. Winston-Salem hasn't been kind to the Wolfpack either; NCSU is 1-7 in its last eight visits dating back to 2003. VS. CLEMSON, Nov. 9 The Tigers are the definitive test of where the program is and what is needed to reach the ultimate goals. All the top recruits in the state of North Carolina will likely descend on Raleigh to watch this game. Like the WFU loss, NC State will hope to show it isn't the same team from a year ago that fell 41-7 to the eventual national champions in Death Valley.
