62 ■ THE WOLFPACKER OFFENSIVE LINE BY MATT CARTER N ew NC State offensive line coach John Garrison understood that he was going to have a challenge replacing not only one of the best offensive lineman ever to come through Raleigh — center Garrett Bradbury — but also two other standouts in All- American guard Terronne Prescod and All-ACC tackle Tyler Jones. Garrison was not expecting to add in the challenge of becoming so short-handed in the spring with injuries that leading up to the Kay Yow Spring Game April 6 it was questionable if they could do a scrimmage due to a shortage of available linemen. "It was an interesting spring because there were so many weird or nagging injuries," Garrison noted. "We got to find some depth because it forced some guys to play a little out of position at times. It forced other guys to get some extra reps that they needed. Some of the guys that you figured would slide into those roles were forced into coaching because of injuries. "I wouldn't say it wasn't a productive spring, but it was dif- ferent. Those healthy guys can see what they can do, and their development was huge. Everybody is going to get reps during the spring, but you go into a spring game with nine guys, it makes it interesting." Among the injured were the entire potential first-string front, led by returning starters redshirt junior Justin Witt at right tackle and junior Joshua Fedd-Jackson at right guard, plus redshirt junior Joe Sculthorpe, who rotated reps in 2018 with Fedd-Jackson in particular. Although Sculthorpe only has three career starts, Garrison be- lieves he has All-ACC potential, and he sees Witt translating his ex- Redshirt junior tackle Justin Witt played more snaps last season (800) than any returning Wolfpack player.
