hoo's hot Recognizing the "Who's Hoo" in UVa athletics — Cavalier student-athletes, past, present and future who are making news around the world of sports. Mark Bernardino ◆ Swimming and Diving The head coach of the swimming and diving program set the league record for most ACC swimming and diving championships when the men's team claimed its 14th ACC title in the last 15 years March 2. Bernardino has led both of his programs to six straight league crowns — making Virginia the first school to achieve that feat in ACC history — and he now ranks fourth in conference history with a total of 27 conference championships during his 35 years at the helm. He has led his team to 16 men's titles, which is the most in league history, while his 11 women's titles ranks second. Jordan Lavender ◆ Track and Field The second-year from Nashville, Tenn., shattered the school record in the 400 meters on the final day of the 2013 ACC Indoor Track and Field Championships with a time of 53.14 seconds. (Lisa Garrett set the program's previous record of 54.07 seconds in 1981.) Lavender finished the event in second place behind only two-time ACC 400-meter indoor champion and 2012 Olympian Marlena Wesh of Clemson. Her record-setting race helped the Cavaliers finish in seventh place in the team standings. Caroline Miller ◆ Soccer The Washington Spirit selected the fourth-year forward from Rockville, Md., in the second round of the National Women's Soccer League College Draft with the 10th overall pick. Miller set single-season school records with 20 goals and 47 points en route to ACC Offensive Player of the Year honors, while she was also named an All-American and the first Hermann Trophy finalist in school history. She ranks second in school history with 45 goals, 109 points and 11 multi-goal games in her career, and her seven goals and 16 points in NCAA Tournament games are school records. Ellen Williamson ◆ Swimming and Diving The second-year from Fort Mitchell, Ky., earned six medals at the ACC Championships, including a pair of gold medals. She took first in the 200yard individual medley, while she also helped the 800 freestyle relay squad set an ACC Championships record with their winning time. Williamson won silver in the 200 backstroke and 400 medley relay, while scoring a bronze in the 100 butterfly and 400 freestyle relay. In addition, the All-American was added to the United States World University Games roster in early February and will compete in the 200-meter backstroke at the 2013 meet, which will be held July 6-17 in Kazan, Russia.
