28 THE WOLVERINE NOVEMBER 2019   MICHIGAN FOOTBALL tackles in the opening game against Middle Tennessee State and notched two solo tackles in the game against Wisconsin. "I am officially transferring from the University of Michigan," he an- nounced via Twitter. "I will graduate this December as a graduate transfer. I will also have two years of eligibil- ity left to play. Thank you, Michigan, for everything." Muhammad, a former Rivals.com four-star prospect, caught 68 passes for 1,040 yards and 12 touchdowns for Ridge Point High School in Mis- souri City, Texas, but he didn't catch a pass for the Wolverines. He played in two games this season, and one of them was on special teams only (the opener with Middle Tennessee State). Asked Oct. 9 what Muhammad had to do to see more action, tight ends coach Sherrone Moore said he needed to improve in all areas. "Just keep working and continue his knowledge of the playbook and each technique," Moore said. "He's just got to continue to work and make sure he's getting better." It appears he'll be doing it at an- other school next year. — Chris Balas MISCELLANEOUS NOTES • Redshirt freshman quarterback Joe Milton's 23-yard touchdown pass to freshman wideout Giles Jackson in the 52-0 win over Rutgers Sept. 28 was the first scoring toss of the signal-caller's career and the first TD reception for Jackson. • When U-M threw for 335 yards against the Scarlet Knights, it marked the program's most passing yards in a game since compiling 387 in a 59-3 blowout of Maryland in 2016. • The 52-0 blanking of Rutgers was the fifth shutout under head coach Jim Harbaugh, and the first since the club held the Scarlet Knights scoreless in a 78-0 win in 2016. The other three oc- curred in consecutive weeks in 2015, when Michigan took down BYU 31-0, Maryland 28-0 and Northwestern 38-0. • The Maize and Blue's 10-3 triumph over Iowa Oct. 5 marked the first time the Wolverines won a game while scor- ing 10 points or fewer since defeating Northwestern 10-9 on Nov. 8, 2014. • When U-M limited Iowa to one rush- ing yard, it signified the first time the Wolverine defense had held a foe to one yard or fewer on the ground since it contained Northwestern to minus-nine in 2014. • Michigan's four turnovers forced against the Hawkeyes were the most it had compiled in a game since also grabbing four in a 24-21 loss in Iowa City on Nov. 23, 2013. • The Wolverines' Oct. 12 trip to Illi- nois marked the team's first appear- ance in Champaign since 2011, which had stood as U-M's longest drought in any Big Ten stadium. Nebraska is now the league venue that holds that title, with Michigan having last played there on Oct. 27, 2012. The Maize and Blue's next trip to Lincoln will occur on Oct. 30, 2021. — Austin Fox Freshman Redshirt Tracker Through the first seven games, eight Michigan freshmen have burned their redshirt by appearing in more than four contests.
