michigan in the pros The last couple years I had to battle through some injuries. It definitely wasn't ideal, but I think I battled through them well. This is the best I've felt in years — maybe ever. I'm just excited to get back to my old self." The Rams put Long through a workout to make sure he was good enough physically to play, and they were confident enough to up their offer in response to renewed interest from Miami. "Initially when the process started, our interest was in the medical, just to see how, in fact, Jake was," Rams head coach Jeff Fisher said. "I felt bad for him because he spent a week in a MRI tube. But when we got through it, we got the thumbs up. He felt great, our doctors felt really good about it, and then that's when we really started the process." Long insists he has plenty of good years left, and he plans to prove it in St. Louis. Charles Woodson Still Looking For A New Home Former Michigan Heisman Trophy winner Charles Woodson is still waiting for a team to offer him a worthy contract. He visited San Francisco weeks ago, but has yet to hear back from the team. "That is just how it goes with older guys in the NFL. I am 36 years old, so, of course, I am considered ancient in the game right now," Woodson told the San Jose Mercury News. "If you are an older guy, they kind of push you to the side and maybe they will look at you later down the road, when they figure they can get you much cheaper than what you are asking for. I don't worry too much about it right now." Woodson has played 15 NFL seasons between Oakland and Green Bay. He said he'd play wherever a team needed him. "I am a football player. I am not a corner, I am not a safety; I am just a guy that can play football," Woodson said. "You can put me in anywhere on that field, in any situation, and I am going to get it done. I call myself 'Seasoning Salt' — you can put me in anything, and I will make it better. I am just waiting on an opportunity. "I am just waiting around. We put feelers out, and there isn't much right now. Just being patient. I went through this one time ... coming out of Oakland. I am in that same situation now. I just have to be a little patient. I will land somewhere and help somebody win."   The NHL Toronto Waives Mike Komisarek Former Michigan defenseman Mike Komisarek was placed on waivers and assigned to the AHL's Toronto Marlies after clearing them March 21. Komisarek was a healthy scratch for all but four of the Maple Leafs' games this season. The 31-year-old Komisarek is in the fourth season of a five-year deal that pays him an average of $4.5 million.
