from our readers And, there is just no substitute for the college team experience and an education at the University of Michigan. Just about all players that have gone on to the pros (including the Fab Five) will tell you that they had the most fun and from an emotional standpoint will always have a family at their university. This TEAM is no exception! The Michigan family is one of the best, if not the best. Most wish for those years back. Why do you think so many past Michigan players and alumni returned for the final NCAA game? This is a difficult decision, but until recently most potential pro players at least stayed in school until their junior year and most until their senior year. Look at the 1989 team that won it all. Especially for Burke, the professional value will not increase by sticking around another year. We'll see what happens with the rest. But having players good enough to leave early sure ranks as a better problem than some Michigan basketball has experienced in past years. Football Guy Won Over Dear The Wolverine: I have to admit I am football guy, and some accuse me of being a fairweather basketball fan. The dynamics of most other sports do not seem to be as inconsistent as basketball. Please explain to me why a team gets hot and then goes stone cold or vice versa. The ball goes half way down the net, and then comes out. Clunkers bounce off the rim. Air balls fill the air. Then everything thrown up goes in. Inconsistency happens in all sports, but it is disproportionate in basketball. Too often in basketball, you can skip the first half of the game, and start watching somewhere in the middle of the second half of the game, if you are just in interested in the final outcome. Those observations are my excuse for my previous lack of sus-
