football recruiting
stamp of approval."
Boston College, Florida, Maryland,
Miami, Michigan State, Purdue, Virginia were all among the offers he
landed.
Based on Mottola's thoughts about
Trumbetti as a player, it's evident why.
"He's definitely a special kid," he
said. "He's got a nice mixture of size
and speed. He's a tenacious player
and a true student of the game. He
does all the right things to put himself
in position to be successful.
"He's a great leader for our program, and it's great for our program
that one of our players gets an opportunity to play for a university like
Notre Dame."
CBS Sports Network football recruiting analyst Tom Lemming labeled
Trumbetti as a junior All-American.
"I was very impressed with him,"
Lemming said. "He has length and
long arms, and he's very aggressive.
He's all about hard work.
"He's not a dominating player, but
he's a very good one that can develop
into an outstanding defensive lineman. The three things Notre Dame
looks for in a defensive lineman is
height, growth potential and quick
feet. He has them all."
As with any verbal commitment,
other programs certainly won't hold
back from continuing to pursue his
services. To Trumbetti, however, the
recruiting process is complete.
"It's a done deal," he said in regards
to the solidarity of his pledge to Notre
Dame. ✦
