football recruiting The Skinny: Bunting looks to have Notre Dame leading the race over Michigan, Northwestern, Ohio State, Oregon, Vanderbilt and USC … He took trips to Ann Arbor and Los Angeles to see the Trojans over the April 19-21 weekend, and he could decide soon after a May 10 trip to Columbus, Ohio. QB Jayru Campbell 6-3, 190 · Detroit (Cass Tech) Class: 2015 Quote: "The practice was very organized and everything was smooth. … I've always liked Notre Dame. When they offered me I was really happy." The Skinny: Campbell has landed offers from Alabama and Michigan State in addition to Notre Dame … He doesn't plan on rushing through the process and wants to take visits to different programs, including a trip back to South Bend in the fall … Campbell has led Cass Tech to state titles as a freshman and sophomore. WR Michiah Quick 6-0, 170 · Fresno, Calif. (Central East) Class: 2014 247Sports Ranking: Rated as the country's No. 6 athlete and the No. 71 overall recruit in the nation. Quote: "He really loved it. He was able to learn about the organization of the school and just get a feel for Notre Dame. It's just a whole other level of football there. … It's just like clockwork there, and he liked that." — Central East High School assistant coach and defensive back guru Tony Perry The Skinny: Quick has Alabama, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, UCLA and USC as his top programs … The Irish made a strong impression on him, but the Trojans are the program to watch … He plans on waiting until the end of the process to decide. RB Nathan Starks 5-11, 200 · Las Vegas (Bishop Gorman) Class: 2014 247Sports Ranking: Listed as the nation's No. 4 athlete and the No. 27 overall prospect in the land. Quote: "My trip was amazing. Notre Dame really opened my eyes about my future, not only in football but after football also. … I think I would fit perfectly in the Bend. They have the full package." The Skinny: Starks has Notre Dame in a strong position following his campus visit … USC was a program he was waiting on an offer from, and the Trojans did eventually extend one in his direction, but the Irish still look to be ahead … With Alabama and Oklahoma as other strong contenders, he has no set timeline for a decision. DB Nick Watkins 6-1, 185 · Dallas (Bishop Dunne Catholic) Class: 2014 247Sports Ranking: Tabbed as the No. 11 cornerback in the country and the No. 135 overall recruit nationally. Quote: "It was a great experience getting up there and seeing the campus. I'll definitely keep considering them after that visit." The Skinny: Watkins traveled to South Bend with his coaches, and it turned out to be his last trip of the spring … He plans to narrow down his list to five choices during the summer, and the only program that looks to be a lock to be in that group at this point is Texas, but the Irish made a strong case to stay in the mix … He'll take all five official visits before deciding. TE Nic Weishar 6-5, 215 · Chicago (Marist) Class: 2014 247Sports Ranking: Rated as the country's No. 5 tight end and the No. 220 overall prospect in the land. Quote: "I really enjoyed my visit. The practice had a great tempo and they get after it. I spent a lot of time with the coaches and they're all great guys." The Skinny: Weishar has always had high interest in Notre Dame … There was a time where Michigan looked to be the favorite, but the Irish are squarely in the mix for his choice with Northwestern also in play. ✦
