She was run- ning in just her second marathon after the Olympic Marathon trials in Atlanta last March, where she placed second (2:27.31) to qualify for the US Olympic Marathon team. 5 Former Notre Dame players, women or men, involved in the WNBA Finals, won by the Seattle Storm over the Las Vegas Aces Oct. 6 with a three-game sweep. The Storm was led by Jewell Loyd (2012-15), who produced 19 points, nine rebounds, four as- sists and two steals in the clinching 92-59 win. The Aces featured head coach Bill Laimbeer (1975-76, 1977-79), and his roster included Kayla McBride (2010-14), Lindsay Allen (2013-17) and Jackie Young (2016-19). Meanwhile, Dallas' Arike Ogunbowale (2015-19) was named to the five-woman All-WNBA first team, while Phoenix's Skylar Diggins Smith (2009-13) was named to All-WNBA second team. Ogunbowale led the league in scoring with a 22.8 average, while Diggins-Smith was seventh (17.7) in addition to averaging 4.2 assists per contest (10th in the league). 24 Big Ten hockey games Notre Dame and the seven-team Big Ten Conference is slated to play for the 2020-21 season that will begin as soon as Nov. 13. There also will be four games per school against Arizona State hosted at Big Ten venues. The 2020-21 schedule will conclude March 18-20, 2021, with the Big Ten Tournament. Big Ten hockey teams will follow the same medical protocols de- veloped by the Big Ten Return to Competition Task Force, including: • Daily antigen testing. • Enhanced cardiac screening. • An enhanced data-driven approach when making decisions about practice/competition. Arizona State has agreed to adhere to the same testing protocols as the Big Ten Conference. In addition to Notre Dame, the other six conference teams are Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Ohio State, Penn State and Wisconsin. The full 2020-21 Big Ten schedule will be announced at a later date. 40/1 Odds, per BetOnline, of Notre Dame winning the 2020 national championship after the Big Ten announced it would begin its football season Oct. 24, while the Pac-12 would do the same Nov. 7, both in abbreviated fashion. The Fighting Irish were tied for eighth place with Big Ten members Michigan and Wisconsin.
