Notre Dame safeties drafted by the NFL during the
10-year period from 2004‑13 — the most at any
one position by the Fighting Irish during that time.
Chronologically they are Glenn Earl (2004, fourth round), Chinedum Ndukwe (2007, seventh round), Tom Zbikowski (2008,
third round), David Bruton (2009, fourth round), Harrison
Smith (2011, first round), Jamoris Slaughter (2013, sixth
round) and Zeke Motta (2013, seventh round). That doesn't
even include Kyle McCarthy (2010) and Sergio Brown (2010),
who have played in the NFL as free agents.
will be a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference. Women's
swimming and diving won the most Big East titles with 14, followed by women's tennis (13), women's soccer (11) and rowing
(10). The most men's titles are eight apiece by golf, tennis and
outdoor track and field.
1972
The last time Notre Dame had two defensive
linemen taken in the first round of the NFL Draft:
Walt Patulski (No. 1 overall) and Mike Kadish (No. 25). In ESPN
draft guru Mel Kiper Jr.'s "Big Board" for 2014, he has current
Fighting Irish senior nose guard Louis Nix III as the No. 7 overall
pick and junior defensive end/tackle Stephon Tuitt No. 13. Notre
Dame hasn't had a defensive lineman chosen in the first round
since Renaldo Wynn in 1997 (21st overall).
