t took 67 years before
Notre Dame Stadium
received its first major cosmetic surgery in
1997 with a 21,000-seat
expansion plus a façade
built around the original
structure.
Now that the stadium
is turning 83, it is primed
for even more elaborate
surgery to keep it healthy
for the long term.
On May 2, the University of Notre Dame
announced future potential plans to enhance
Notre Dame Stadium
as a year-round facility
and released a concep-
tual image of how those
changes might look.
These plans are in the
exploratory phase with
no timetable released on
how many years from
now the implementation of these objectives
will begin. The aim is to
make Notre Dame Stadium the campus hub in
