fan forum Indiana and Probation Penn State. They are replacing Notre Dame with Arkansas, a program back on its heels. What an upgrade from a coach who calls Notre Dame chicken. Brady Hoke hasn't proved anything at Michigan yet. I'm betting against him. He should have kept his big mouth shut. Tom Krigner Oxford, Mich. No Ladies Luck Lou Somogyi and Wes Morgan did not do the women's basketball team justice in your May 2013 articles. At least one of you should have described what the ladies had to endure to get to the Final Four. Furthermore, you should have questioned why Notre Dame was slotted to play UConn in the semifinal game when they had already played them three times this year. Lastly, for the third year in a row the officiating was biased against the Notre Dame ladies. Specifically, Skylar Diggins was abused the entire game. In the first half, Notre Dame went to the foul line about 10 times. The UConn gal guarding Skylar should have fouled out if the refs were doing their job. In the first half UConn didn't go to the foul line at all. But in the second half the "let-them-play" attitude prevails and abusive teams get their way. All of a sudden the Notre Dame girls picked up foul after foul, many of them questionable. Yet UConn could do no wrong. The same thing happened two years ago against Baylor, and three years ago against Texas A&M. You should have reported this and not ignored it. It is bad enough that the NCAA officiating is deplorable against the Notre Dame ladies, but your ignoring it is unacceptable. Emil Sommerlad Albuquerque, N.M. Mr. Sommerlad, from the NCAA's seed‑ ing perspective, the No. 1 overall seed Bay‑ lor defeated the Irish at Notre Dame, No. 2 Notre Dame was 3-0 versus No. 3 UConn, and UConn crushed No. 4 Stanford at Stanford. That's how it turned out 2 ver‑ sus 3 in the semifinal. There are different ways to interpret officiating, but Notre Dame was whistled for 19 fouls and UConn 18. Notre Dame was 17 of 20 from the line and UConn 19 of 21. Seven of the Irish fouls came in the final 4:08 when it was in desperation mode while trailing by double digits. The Irish made 11 of 12 from the charity stripe in the first half and UConn didn't have any attempts — yet Notre Dame still trailed by 10 at halftime. We can't blame officiating there. Notre Dame had a phenomenal season, but on that given night UConn played better in its 83-65 victory, in our humble opinion. be heard! Send your letters to: Letters Blue & Gold Illustrated P. O.
