football recruiting ROUNDUP Recruiting Notes • Notre Dame continues to sit in great shape with the nation's top overall tight end, Tyler Luatua of La Mirada, Calif. The 6-4, 230-pound prospect will take an official visit to South Bend Oct. 18 for the Notre Dame-USC matchup. Luatua is rated as the No. 1 tight end in the country, the No. 12 player in California and the No. 101 overall prospect nationally by 247Sports. • The Irish will have two opportunities to impress five-star safety John Smith out of Long Beach, Calif. The 6-1, 200-pound prospect will visit Michigan for its matchup against Notre Dame Sept. 7, and then Smith will be in South Bend for his Notre La Mirada, Calif., product Tyler Dame official visit later this year. One aspect working in favor of the Irish is that his cousin plans to attend Notre Dame on an academic scholarship.
