Defensive tackle Deshaywn Middleton Winston-Salem (N.C.) Parkland Middleton had been leaning towards NC State since the spring and practically acted like a commitment for much of the summer, but he did not make it official until July 1 when he pledged during a press conference at his school. Middleton also had offers from East Carolina, Duke and Wake Forest, among others. The 6-2, 300-pound Middleton is rated by Rivals.com as a three-star prospect, the No. 23 player from the state of North Carolina and the No. 39 defensive tackle in the country. At the Shrine Bowl combine held at Eastern Alamance High in Mebane, N.C., in April, Middleton ran the 40-yard dash in 5.21 seconds. Central The 6-3, 200-pound Pratt has been a standout in the High Point Central secondary the last two seasons. He had 94 tackles, six interceptions and four passes broken up in 2012. That helped Pratt land offers from Notre Dame, Tennessee, Virginia and Wake Forest, among others. Rivals.com rates Pratt as a four-star recruit, the No. 8 prospect from the state, the No. 16 safety nationally and the No. 189 overall player in the country. He picked NC State June 6 after finishing up a day at camp there. He said that the decision came to him two weeks earlier while in church. "I thought about where I wanted to go," Pratt said. "My mom wanted me to stay close to home, so I chose NC State." Pratt will play linebacker for the Wolfpack. $39.95 football 2013 A NEW ErA The Wolfpacker also makes a great gift! Columbia Prescod represents a significant victory for NC State on the recruiting trail. In June, Prescod was named the offensive line MVP at an Auburn camp and received an offer from the Tigers. With Prescod having visited Auburn about 10 times, many analysts assumed that he would commit there sooner rather than later. Yet in the end he chose NC State, which began to emerge as Prescod's leader when he first visited in May. He came back twice in June, committing on the second trip June 29.
