inside michigan athletics Sitting Down With New Women's Golf Coach Jan Dowling Jan Dowling was introduced as the Wolverines' new women's golf coach May 24, 2013. She has been a collegiate coach since 2006, including a three-year stint as Florida's head coach (2009‑12). Dowling was a touring professional golfer from 2003-05, on the Futures and Canadian tours. The Wolverine: How have you spent your first couple of weeks in Ann Arbor? Dowling: "I have hired assistant coaches, gotten settled in, gotten to know some of the team members and started recruiting. … I am really excited for the team to come back and really get started in September." The Wolverine: When you interviewed for the job and saw the facilities here at Michigan, how much did that influence your decision to come here? Dowling: "This golf center is one of the big reasons I came here. You have to have a building like this in the north, if you want to be successful. It proved to me that our administration and our alumni are 100 percent committed to the success of the program. This is a pivotal time in Michigan women's golf. We can use this building to recruit some of the best golfers in the country and even the world to come here. It's Dowling has been a collegiate coach since 2006, including a three-year stint as Florida's head coach.
