Maize And Blue Moments The Greatest Plays, Games And Events Of U-M's 2012-13 Sports Year T By Michael Spath he 2012-13 sports year started with a bang — all seven Michigan fall teams earned points in the Directors' Cup, with the volleyball team finishing third nationally — gained Year In Review Top 10 Moments momentum in the winter when both the men's gymnastics and men's swimming and diving programs won national titles, and culminated in an outstanding spring campaign in which five programs were nationally competitive. Fans of the U-M athletic department's varsity sports had much to smile about, celebrating great team finishes, terrific individual efforts and memorable victories. The Maize and Blue, from football to basketball, field hockey to water polo, golf to tennis, made the university proud. But in the context of day-to-day competition, some performances were especially significant. Here then are the 10 best moments of the 2012-13 year.  At the NCAA Championships, junior gymnast Sam Mikulak earned three individual crowns — in the all-around, high bar and parallel bars — and led U-M to a national title.
