corps, Powers has coached four All-Americans, including 2013 honoree Jacob Trouba. Scott Sherman — Women's Gymnastics: Bev Plocki's right-hand man for 17 seasons, Sherman coaches the uneven bars event and is key in Michigan's recruiting efforts. During his tenure, the Wolverines have captured 13 Big Ten titles and five top-five NCAA finishes. U-M has had a national bars champion (Elise Ray in 2004) and all-around national champions in 2001 (Ray) and 2011 (Kylee Botterman). Leisa Rosen — Volleyball: Rosen has spent the past 14 years at Michigan coaching alongside her husband, Mark, in building up a program from relative anonymity to a Final Four participant (in 2012). The Wolverines have earned 12 NCAA Tournament berths in Rosen's tenure, advancing to the Sweet 16 five times. Xiao Yuan — Men's Gymnastics: A nine-year veteran alongside head coach Kurt Golder, Yuan pays heavy attention to the Wolverines' details, and has helped the Maize and Blue capture team national titles in 2010 and 2013. In both years, he and assistant Geoff Corrigan were named the National Assistant Coach(es) of the Year. Dr. Josh White — Swimming & Diving: Mike Bottom's associate head coach, White is in charge of the Wolverines' distance events, working with 2013 national champion Connor Jaeger. His swimmers also took four of the top nine spots in the 1,650-yard freestyle and five of the top 16 in the 500-yard freestyle during the NCAA Championships, helping U-M to the overall team title. Dean Duerst — Women's Soccer: Duerst came to Ann Arbor along with head coach Greg Ryan in 2008. The Maize and Blue's defensive coach, Duerst helped the Wolverines set season records for fewest goals allowed (17) and shutouts (13) in 2012. With his help, U-M has improved its victory total from 10 combined wins in 2008-09 to 10, nine and 16 the past three seasons. Sean Bormet & Donny Pritzlaff — Wrestling: Hired prior to the 2011-12 season, the two prized recruiters immediately went to work to improve the caliber of wrestlers the Maize and Blue were signing. Mission accomplished — U-M signed a top-10 class in 2012 and landed the consensus No. 1 class nationally in 2013, including four of 11 signees ranked among the top 30 prospects in the country. Greg Mattison — Football: While Brady Hoke's entire staff has impressed, Mattison has made the greatest impact, engineering one of the best defensive turnarounds in school history. Michigan's yards per game allowed dropped by 128.6 yards and its points per game allowed by 18.0 in the coordinator's first season in 2011. U-M had similar success in 2012 and is poised for dominance in 2013. Note: The coaches are listed in order of tenure. — Michael Spath
