16 THE WOLVERINE APRIL 2022   INSIDE MICHIGAN ATHLETICS 0 0 Will be worn by U-M freshman early enrollee wide receiver DARRIUS CLEM- ONS, the program's spring roster release revealed. The No. 76 overall player in the 2022 class according to On3, Clemons will become just the third Wolverine to don the digit since it became allowed by the NCAA in 2020, joining former wide receiver Giles Jackson and corner- back Andre Seldon, who both did so during the afore- mentioned season. No U-M player sported No. 0 during the 2021 campaign. The spring roster also revealed a po- sition switch for redshirt freshman Eamonn Dennis, who is transitioning from defensive back to wide receiver. "I remember after the game at Michigan State, Coach Izzo had a lot to say to me — a lot of good things. After this game, he didn't say anything. I feel like he got a little upset. But I don't know, I don't take it personally." — Michigan sophomore center Hunter Dickinson after the Wolverines' 87-70 win over Michigan State March 1 11 Of 15 Michigan field goals were either scored by (six) or came off an as- sist from (five) fifth-year senior point guard DEVANTE' JONES in the second half of the Wolverines' 75-69 win at Ohio State March 6. All told, Jones posted 21 points on a U-M career-high nine made field goals, nine assists, two steals and one rebound in the victory to cap off the regular season. 8 Former Michigan football players currently reside on the program's coaching staff, including five on- field assistants and three in off-field roles. From 2017-20, head coach Jim Harbaugh was Michigan's only full- time coach who played for the Wol- verines, but that changed when he hired running backs coach Mike Hart and wide receivers coach Ron Bel- lamy, who worked with the safeties last season, ahead of the 2021 cam- paign. This offseason, he promoted former U-M offensive lineman Grant Newsome to tight ends coach, and hired Mike Elston to work with the defensive line and serve as recruit- ing coordinator. He also brought in former Wolverine signal-caller De- nard Robinson as assistant director of player personnel, while director of player development Chris Bryant and defensive analyst Doug Mallory remain on staff as well.
