The university's current vice presi- dent for intercollegiate athletics, Sandy Barbour, announced in March that her tenure will end this summer when she steps down from the position she's held for the past eight years. A specific end date has not yet been set, but Barbour is expected to work through June, a timeline that would give incoming university president Neeli Bendapudi an opportunity to get settled in at PSU and have a hand in finding her successor. Barbour said the decision to step down this summer was influenced in part by the upcoming transition in Old Main. "As we got clear of the fall, football season, the bowl game, and finished up our women's volleyball [coaching] search, our COVID numbers started to go down and we were all able to kind of take a little bit of a breath," Barbour said. "I really started reflecting and thinking about all of this, thinking about where I was from health and well-being stand- point, and where my mind was. "I didn't get an opportunity to see my family over the holidays because of the bowl and the search. I went and spent some time with my family late Janu- University president Eric Barron, athletics director Sandy Barbour and head football coach James Franklin were hired within six months of each other in 2014.
