For the season, Miller posted a team-high 47 points (20 goals and seven assists). The points and goals scored totals marked single-season school records, and Miller earned ACC Offensive Player of the Year honors. Doniak chipped in with 10 goals and eight assists. Second-year forward/midfielder Danielle Colaprico, third-year midfielder Kate Norbo, secondyear forward Kaili Torres and Brian all notched 15 points or more. In goal, third-year Danielle DeLisle posted a 0.85 goals-against average. She made 50 saves on the season and recorded a .746 save percentage. "I would definitely say it was a great season for us," Doniak said. "We definitely wanted to go farther than we did, but I think that just added fuel to our fire this year. "We want it even more this year and we've been Best Of The Rest working really hard to hopefully get it." Miller, who has graduated, believes the sky is the limit for UVa in 2013. "There's no doubt in my mind that they have everything it takes to win a national championship," said Miller, who is now pursuing a pro career, "and be the standout team this year." Swanson, who has taken the program to the NCAA Tournament in each of his 13 years but has never advanced past the quarterfinals, said winning an NCAA title is definitely the goal. "I think we learned a lot of lessons last year," he said. "I think we have some good momentum coming back. "We had a good spring. We took the team to England and went on a foreign trip — a lot of things that happened were really good for us. We're excited about this season." ◆ 1. Rowing — The Cavaliers claimed their fourth consecutive ACC championship by winning the quartet of races at the conference meet, where they have finished first 13 times over the last 14 years. Kevin Sauer was named the ACC Coach of the Year, the varsity eight boat was named the league's Crew of the Year and five athletes were named both All-ACC and all-region. At the NCAA Championships, Virginia advanced a pair of boats to the Grand Finals and placed fifth for its seventh consecutive top-six finish, while three athletes were named All-Americans. 2. Swimming and Diving — Virginia, which boasted just one fourth-year in the lineup, won its sixth consecutive ACC title and went on to place 18th at the NCAA Championships for its sixth straight top‑20 finish. Eleven athletes qualified for the final meet, and the Cavs walked away with top-16 finishes in three individual events and one relay race, which earned each competitor honorable mention All-America honors. 3. Tennis — Although the Wahoos were bounced from the ACC Tournament semifinals with a heart-breaking loss to Florida State, they earned their fifth straight bid to the NCAA Championships. The squad, which finished 19-10, was seeded 14th for the Big Dance and reached the round of 16 for the third consecutive season. The program also recorded its first victory over the nation's top-ranked team, topping North Carolina 4-3 on March 30. 4. Field Hockey — Four athletes were named to the 17-member All-ACC squad, and fifth-year Paige Selenski was named the ACC Offensive Player of the Year, in addition to a trio claiming All-America laurels. The squad finished 16-6 with four losses coming to teams that eventually reached the Final Four, but they were able to earn the program's sixth NCAA Tournament bid in the last seven years and record a 3-2 victory in the opening round. 5. Lacrosse — Julie Myers' squad finished the year with an 11-10 record, but they did claim the program's 18th straight NCAA bid, where they knocked off two higher-seeded teams before the year came to a close in the national quarterfinals. The Cavs also reached the semifinals of the ACC Tournament and boasted a trio of All-ACC and all-region honorees. — Ryan Tice
