4 THE WOLVERINE NOVEMBER 2022 'THIS IS HARBAUGH FOOTBALL' Jim Harbaugh has a firm, clearly de- veloped formula, game plan and belief system for winning in the Big Ten: When other teams see Michigan on their schedule, their defensive coordi- nator looks at the big uglies on our of- fensive line, the TE's and blocking WR's, and the running backs that will be fol- lowing them, regardless of how good their team is, they say, "Oh crap, we bet- ter get ready! Even if we know it's com- ing, it's going to be a long day." When a team runs over a defense, taking their manhood and chewing up huge chunks of the clock, meanwhile, the other teams' offense sits on the bench and waits and waits and waits frustratingly, it loses a little bit of their edge. This is Harbaugh Football. This is Jim- my's dream come true. It is obvious as to what he feels gives Michigan its best chance of success come late November. It's ugly and it's beautiful. Can't wait to see if it works again! — Saturday And doing all of this while integrating his 5-star QB that he chose over the reigning Big Ten Champ who beat OSU. I've been as critical about Harbaugh as anyone … but the dude is coaching his *** off. — IndyWolverine23 And it works. But many people still aren't happy with it. Which makes no sense. — 90MVarsity It's what he had at Stanford, and it's pretty much Wisconsin football with a better QB and better athletes out- side (and better athletes defensively). I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop, that you can't win in college football in 2022 this way but Jim and Michigan keep proving you can. At least within the conference. Remains to be seen if it can compete for a national title like this. I'll be very curious what happens if U-M beats OSU again and goes to the playoff. … Will the Buckeyes shift gears and copy U-M? They just might. — Michael Spath It's the way to beat the Buckeyes. Control the line of scrimmage on both sides. Less opportunities and more pressure for OSU to score. — John Stacy II SHOULD MICHIGAN STADIUM ADD FIREWORKS? I was pretty indifferent on this until what I saw in Knoxville last night when the Volunteers won [52-49 over Ala- bama]. That was freaking cool. Should Michigan do this for night games? I kind of like the idea. Thoughts? — 2hf5forneyb Saw it live and loved it. No reason why Michigan could not, given the layout of Michigan Stadium. — A2Jim Yes, and get rid of the stupid *** DJ. — Jmarr1123 Absolutely, they should have fire - works … also need LED lights. — Ttown Mike No, No, No, No, No! Serve booze and beer, give me the pump-up jams … hell, add a light show. CAN NOT STAND fireworks at a college football game! — Palmer4Blue FROM OUR WEBSITE November 2022 • Vol. 34, No. 5 ISSN 1048-9940 Editor John Borton TheWolverine.com Editor Chris Balas Football Recruiting Editor EJ Holland Staff Writers Clayton Sayfie, Anthony Broome Drew Hallett Managing Editor Mark Panus Contributing Editors Matt Herb Steve Downey Chris Riffer Layout And Design Jeanette Blankenship Chris Miller Contributing Photographers Lon Horwedel Per Kjeldsen Cover Photo Lon Horwedel Publisher Stu Coman Business Manager Linda Autry Circulation Manager Sarah Boone Advertising Sales Michelle DeLee-Hamilton 877-630-8768 Customer Service Cathy Jones, Laura Thornton, Shaheda Hargette 800-421-7751 The Wolverine is published monthly. With their 41-17 victory over Penn State on Oct. 15, Harbaugh's Wolverines were off to a 7-0 start for the second consecutive season, the first time for U-M since 1973-74. PHOTO BY PER KJELDSEN
