www.BLUEANDGOLD.com NOV. 26, 2022 23 1st Shutout for Notre Dame against Boston College in 27 all-time meetings. The Irish had held the Eagles to single digits four times — winning 17-3 in 1975, 54-7 in 1992, 21-6 in 2012 and 40-7 in 2019 — prior to this year's blanking. The Eagles have one shutout versus the Fighting Irish, a 17-0 triumph in 2008. 3 Interceptions for freshman cornerback Benja- min Morrison versus Boston College, match- ing a school record he now shares with 14 other players. Prior to Morrison, the last Fighting Irish player to pick off 3 passes in one game was Har- rison Smith in a 33-17 Notre Dame victory over Miami in the Sun Bowl on Dec. 31, 2010. Morrison now has 5 interceptions this season, the most by an Irish player since linebacker Manti Te'o had 7 in 2012. It also is the most by an Irish cornerback since Cole Luke had 4 in 2014 and the most for an Irish freshman defensive back since safety Kyle Hamilton had 4 in 2019. 5 Takeaways — 4 of which came in the first half — for Notre Dame, easily a season high. The Irish had forced only 8 turnovers in their first 10 games. Notre Dame finished the game with 27 points off the 5 BC turnovers, also a season high. With the 5 takeaways and just 1 turnover of their own — a muffed punt by graduate student wide receiver Matt Salerno — against the Eagles, the Irish have evened their turnover margin (13-13) for the first time since exiting the season opener at Ohio State 0-0. The Irish turned it over 3 times in their next game versus Marshall and dipped all the way to minus-7 (3-10) through seven games. 5-0 Record for Notre Dame when it notches at least 1 interception in a game. The Irish ranked at the bottom of the FBS with just 1 pick through their first seven games. In their last four outings, Notre Dame has recorded 8 interceptions. 6 Consecutive undefeated seasons at home against ACC teams for Notre Dame, after they took care of Clemson (35-14) and Boston College (44-0) this season. The Fighting Irish will carry their now 28-game regular-season win streak against ACC opponents into 2023. 18-1-2 All-time record for Notre Dame in snow games. The lone loss was an 18-0 defeat at the hands of Indianapolis Artillery on Nov. 22, 1895, when the team still played on Brownson Hall Field. In Notre Dame Stadium (since 1930), the Irish are now 6-0 in snow games: 9-7 vs. Navy on Oct. 23, 1937; 40-12 vs. Southern Cal on Nov. 30, 1957; 48-0 vs. Army on Oct. 19, 1974; 17-16 vs. Penn State on Nov. 14, 1992; 23-13 vs. BYU on Nov. 23, 2013; and 44-0 over Boston College on Nov. 19, 2022. 25 Degrees (felt like 10 with the wind chill) was the temperature at kickoff — the cold- est game for the Fighting Irish at Notre Dame Stadium since the victory over BYU in 2013. The coldest before that BYU game was 24 degrees dur- ing a 38-0 Irish triumph over Navy on Nov. 2, 1991. 44 Points is the second-largest margin of victory in the Notre Dame-Boston College series, behind only the Fighting Irish's 54-7 beat- down of the Eagles in South Bend on Nov. 7, 1992. The Irish have won nine consecutive contests against the Eagles and now lead the series 18-9. 51 -Yard run for sophomore running back Lo- gan Diggs on the first play from scrimmage. It is the longest run of the year by a Notre Dame ball carrier and was a precursor of what was to come. The Fighting Irish finished with 281 yards on 38 attempts (7.4 yards per carry). It is the sixth time this season they eclipsed 200 yards and the third time they went over 250. 99-0 Is the combined score of Notre Dame's last two Senior Day contests — 44-0 versus Boston College this year and 55-0 over Georgia Tech on Nov. 20, 2021. It marked the first back-to-back Senior Day shutouts for the Fighting Irish since 1948-49. Notre Dame blanked Washington 46-0 on Nov. 27, 1948, and topped Southern Cal 32-0 on Nov. 26, 1949.
