North Oconee's Khalil Barnes, the No. 81 cornerback nationally per On3, announced his list of top three schools Nov. 14. Clemson, Notre Dame and Oklahoma made the cut for the three-star prospect. He also let the nation know that he'll announce his commit- ment Dec. 16, just five days before National Signing Day. Barnes officially visited Notre Dame to see the Irish knock off Clemson earlier in November, and he will make the short trip to South Carolina to see the Tigers for an official at the end of the month. He also has a tentative plan to offi- cially visit Oklahoma the weekend of Dec. 10, but that trip may fall through because it's the weekend of the Georgia state playoff finals. He'd prefer to be playing in that, but if not, he will be making a trip to Norman, Okla., to learn more about the Sooners. Barnes, a 6-1, 185-pounder who was once committed to Wake Forest, spoke to On3 about why Notre Dame is a finalist for him. "With Notre Dame, I like what the coaches see me doing for them as an offensive player," he said. "They want me to do a lot of the same stuff I'm doing at North Oconee, which is pretty cool. Notre Dame has every con- nection you can think of, which is huge to me." On3 lists Barnes as a cornerback, but Notre Dame is recruiting him as a wide receiver. — Mike Singer Follow @MikeTSinger on Twitter for recruiting updates! BARNES PHOTO BY JEREMY JOHNSON/ON3.COM
