TRACKING THE PACK MAY/JUNE 2023 ■ 11 tionally and No. 12 player in Virginia. Bailey, a standout at Chaminade- Madonna High in Hollywood, Fla., committed on March 13 after a visit to Raleigh. He had received an offer in Jan- uary and quickly became a high priority. Rated by On3 as the No. 34 quarter- back nationally and No. 69 prospect in Florida, Bailey was being recruited by Florida State, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Pitt and others. He visited the Seminoles on March 4 but admitted afterward that he was focused on the Wolfpack. "NC State loves me," he told On3. "I love who loves me. NC State is a big one." At 6-6, 180 pounds, Bailey is taller than the typical college quarterback. Playing in the same offense with elite wideouts Jeremiah Smith and Joshisa Trader as a junior last season, Bailey posted dazzling numbers, throwing for 3,355 yards and 45 touchdowns. Scott, meanwhile, is ranked by On3 as the No. 45 running back nationally and No. 73 prospect in Georgia. He chose NC State over Wake Forest and Rutgers after rushing for 542 yards and 10 touchdowns in an injury-shortened junior season at Stockbridge High. Running backs coach Todd Goebbel was energetic in his pursuit of the 5-10, 190-pound Scott. "As soon as he offered me, he said that he was probably going to be the hardest person that recruited me," Scott said. "And he just kept it up. He texted me two, three times a week." Goebbel's interest intensified when Scott told him that he was giving the Pack serious consideration. "He started stepping up, texting me maybe four to five times a week, call- ing me twice a week," Scott said. "The persistence he had, it was big." As of April 20, NC State's class was 34th nationally in the On3 Industry Ranking and ninth in the ACC. ■ Asaad Brown, a three-star cornerback from Virginia, chose NC State after receiving interest from North Carolina, Clemson and Penn State, among others.
