Where did you grow up? I was born and raised in Birmingham, Ala. What college did you graduate from? Union University in Jackson, Tenn. What are your responsibilities with the Wolfpack Club? I'm our di- rector of major gifts. I lead a team here of four full-time staff people and one in- tern. Our focus is on philanthropic gifts of $50,000 and up. NC State is a world-class institution with 250,000 living alums, and a lot of those are here in the state. Our job is to make sure that we're engaging with our al- ums, fans and friends of the university and sharing what we're raising money for. There are a lot of people out there that want to help. They want to push this university for- ward and make it better, but they need somebody to give them a call and sit down with them and explain that to them and ask for that money. In our world, from a major gift per- spective, very rarely does somebody just mail you a check north of $50,000 just because they woke up one day and they felt like it. It's not something that can be done from a crowdsourcing perspective. It's still a relationship business. It's sit- ting down, it's one-on-one and just ex- plaining the mission of the organization and what we're trying to accomplish with athletics director Boo Corrigan and his team. Before you were with the Wolfpack Club, what did you do? I spent the pre- vious 13 years at Mississippi State, and I had a lot of different jobs there. I was a graduate assis- tant and then development coordinator. My last role there was associate athletic director for development, a very similar role to what I have now. How did you join the Wolfpack Club? NC State actually came to Mississippi State to play football in 2022. Wolfpack Club executive director Ben Broussard and I connected while he was in town for that game. I gave a tour of the baseball stadium at Mississippi State to a handful of NC State donors that were in town and came away from that meeting just blown away. I was like, "Man, these are all really good, down-to-earth people." I had heard great things about Raleigh, but I had never visited the city. When the job opened, Ben and I connected. We talked, and I went through the interview process. It was just an opportunity that I couldn't turn down. What's your favorite part of the job? Our fans are so passionate. When I first got here, I had never been to a game at Carter-Finley before. From the first game, I was blown away with the atmosphere here. I think it is one of the most under- rated atmospheres in college football, and it doesn't get talked about enough. We work really hard here to try to do everything we can to make this place the best it can be. What are your hobbies? Whenever I'm off, it's family first for me. It's seeing my wife and my two boys. Favorite TV show: "Cheers." Favorite movie: "Good Will Hunt- ing." Favorite musical artist: Zac Brown Band. Favorite restaurant: Vinnie's Steak House and Tavern. Favorite Wolfpack memory: I brought my oldest son to the NC State- Duke men's basketball game last year at the PNC Arena. I remember hoping we would play well and get a win, and then we proceeded to blow them out. That was a lot of fun, and I was happy that we were able to work it out for my son to come, because it was a school night for him.
