DECEMBER 2023 3 Dear Cavalier Fans, During this holiday season, I want to express my gratitude to each of you for your support of Virginia Athletics. As you have probably heard, I began as the Executive Director of the Virginia Athletics Foundation on October 9. I am extremely grateful to be granted the opportunity to lead the team at VAF, an organization with a long history of success. I am also so grateful to those donors I have had the opportunity to meet and for the warm welcome you have given me. I look forward to meeting many more of you soon. Part of my interest in coming to UVA was knowing that both the University and athletics department placed a premium on success in the classroom, in competition and in the community. I also knew that the donors here are passionate fans and love their Hoos. I have already seen many examples of this! I am looking forward to leading the VAF team so we can continue to support UVA athletics in a manner that allows each team to succeed. As I look towards the end of the year, I know we still have a lot of work to do to support our teams. We have raised just over $18 million in our Annual Fund which has a goal of $21 million. This allows us to fully fund all 316.6 athletic scholarships and provide academic and sport-specific operational support. We also continue to raise money for endowments, other operational needs and academic awards through the Cavalier Academic Achievement Fund and the Master Plan. Thank you for all you have done to support us this year. Your support has positively impacted the student-athlete experience and helped us win many accolades including a sixth NCAA Championship for Men's Tennis and a third NCAA Championship for Women's Swimming and Diving. Graduation rates have also been at their highest rate ever, 95 percent, for the past three years. None of this would have been possible without your support. My wife, Elizabeth, our three daughters and I wish you and your family a safe and wonderful holiday season. We look forward to celebrating many more victories and milestones with you here at UVA.
