e is my most beloved friend and my
bitterest rival, my confidant and my
betrayer, my sustainer and my depen-
dent, and scariest of all, my equal."
Those words from author and columnist
Gregg Levoy sums up the relationship many
people have with a sibling, but when that
sibling is a twin, it takes that closeness to a
level unique to those who share that bond.

and Michael Gioffre who are second-years
on the Virginia wrestling team. The brothers
from Clovis, Calif., grew up with an added
layer of complexity to their relationship, and
that was competing together in wrestling —
a sport that can combine a complex blend
of individual competition with team goals.
That blend has yet another layer of com-
plexity added to it when the competitors are
of similar stature, putting them in a position
to potentially face off with each other.
