snapshot RING THING This fall, the UVA women's swimming and diving team and men's tennis program celebrated their 2023 NCAA cham- pionships with separate, but impressive, ceremonies where they received their national championships rings. In March, the Virginia women's swimming and diving team won its third consecutive NCAA team title. The Cavaliers finished with 11 total wins, sweeping all five relay races and adding six individual NCAA titles. UVA became just the fourth program to win all five relays at the NCAA Championships. Fourth-year Kate Douglass led Virginia with three individual wins, capturing the 200-yard individual medley, 100-yard butterfly and 200-yard breaststroke, all in NCAA, American and U.S. Open record times. Ranked No. 5, the Virginia men's tennis team won its sec- ond straight NCAA title, defeating Ohio State in the finals. It was the program's sixth overall national championship. Chris Rodesch was named the tournament MVP. — Jim Daves/Photos courtesy UVA DECEMBER 2023 5
