TRACKING THE PACK JULY/AUGUST 2024 ■ 13 PACK PERFORMERS Grace Hartman, Women's Track and Field Hartman claimed first-team All-America honors by placing eighth in the women's 10,000-meter race at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships June 7 in Eugene, Ore. One of two Wolfpack athletes among the 24 finalists in the 10K race — the other was junior Ama- ris Tyynismaa, who did not finish — Hartman turned in a time of 32:54.98. The sophomore distance runner from Oakwood, Ohio, also competed in the 5,000-meter race the following day and earned second-team All-America honors by placing 14th in 15:46.62. Joining Hartman in the 5K field was graduate teammate Sam Bush, who placed 20th in 16:04.61. Alec Makarewicz, Baseball The graduate third baseman from Longwood, Fla., received second-team ABCA/Rawlings All-America honors from the American Baseball Coaches Association prior to NC State's appear- ance in the Men's College World Series. Playing his first season at NC State after transferring from East Carolina, Makarewicz was a big part of the surge that sent the Wolfpack to Omaha as part of the eight-team College World Series field. He was named second-team All-ACC and was the Most Outstanding Player of the NCAA Raleigh Regional. For the season, he led the Wolfpack with a .378 batting average, 84 RBI, 24 home runs, 98 hits and a .753 slugging percentage. Following the CWS, Makarewicz also was named a second-team All-American by Baseball America. Nick Mathews, Men's Golf Mathews tied for 15th place at the NCAA Men's Golf Championships, which took place May 24-29 at the Omni La Costa North Course in Carlsbad, Calif. It was the highest finish by a Wolfpack golfer since Matt Hill won the individual NCAA title in 2009. A redshirt junior from Mebane, N.C., Mathews had 6 birdies on the third day of competition en route to a 4-under 68, the sec- ond-lowest round ever by a Pack golfer at the NCAA Championships and also the second-lowest round by any golfer at this year's event. Following the 2024 season, in which he posted four top-10 finishes in 12 collegiate tournaments, Mathews was named an honorable mention Division I PING All-American by the Golf Coaches Association of America. Amelia Rajecki, Women's Tennis Rajecki was named ITA Senior Player of the Year by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. The four-year standout from Nottingham, England, wrapped up her collegiate career with 109 victories in singles competition and 103 wins in doubles. She is only the third player in Wolfpack history to reach the 100-win plateau in both singles and doubles. In her final campaign, Rajecki compiled 37 singles wins, earned first-team All-ACC honors and was ranked No. 2 in the country for much of the season, the highest ranking ever for an NC State player. Rajecki reached the semifinals of this year's NCAA Singles Championships, and she also won 29 matches and was second-team All-ACC in doubles play. — Matt Herb 232 South White St. — Downtown Wake Forest WakeForestHardware.com — 919-556-3562 @BWhardware SINCE 1949 NORTH CAROLINA'S PREMIER TRAEGER DEALER
