BY CHRIS BALAS O n the morning of April 20, players from the 2023 Michigan football team met at a pre-spring game gathering for what would likely be the last time. Each Wolverine received four rings, one for the Big Ten title, one for winning the Rose Bowl, another for winning the College Football Playoff, and the last one — the gem of all gems — the U-M national championship ring. Many stuck around for the spring game before saying their goodbyes and leaving for their new ventures, including Jim Harbaugh, the new Los Angeles Chargers head coach. With that, first-year head coach Sherrone Moore and his staff turned the last page of the 2023 story and moved on. "The good thing with Coach [Harbaugh] was that it was a very collabor- ative effort in what we did and what we've always done," Moore said post- spring. "What Coach did was part of what I did and [offensive coordinator] Kirk [Campbell] did, and [assistants] Ron [Bellamy] and Grant [Newsome]. "It's not really just what Coach did. We've always been part of it, and we'll just continue to keep this train rolling." There's really only one goal, he said when asked how he wanted to put his own stamp on the program. "I just want to win," Moore said. "The process of winning is what we're going to do." They'll have to do it without some of the elite talent that got them there, but there's still plenty returning. Here's our annual look at some of the best and most intriguing players, biggest question marks, and more, as the Wolverines head into the 2024 campaign.
