Michigan's 2024 Captains: Best Bets The Wolverines have a few obvious choices here, unlike the recent past in which several could have been considered. Here's who we believe will get the nod this season: Defense — S ROD MOORE There's no better candidate on either side of the ball. Even though he won't be playing this year (though he's told people he plans to be back in time for the game at Ohio State), Moore showed his leadership skills during spring by sitting in the front row at meetings after his injury and helping guide his teammates through the remainder of the spring practices. The dark horse — S Quinten Johnson: Johnson is like linebacker Michael Barrett last year — the old man in the room, but so valuable. He's a leader, and his game continues to improve heading into his sixth year. Offense — RB Donovan Edwards Some would call Edwards a "free spirit," but when it comes time to work, he's all business. He's made sacrifices for the benefit of the team, led by example and been everything the coaches thought he'd be when they recruited him out of nearby West Bloomfield (Mich.) High. It's his time to shine, both on the field and as a leader. The dark horse — TE Max Bredeson: One of the few remaining veterans on offense, the senior tight end/fullback embodies everything the program is about. He's tough, and he leads by example.
