8 ■ THE WOLVERINE 2024 FOOTBALL PREVIEW MICHIGAN FOOTBALL Michigan's 15-0 record last season added to its standing as the all-time wins leader (1,004) in college football history. The Wolverines are now 39 wins ahead of second-place Alabama and 40 in front of rival Ohio State. U-M had lost its mark as the winningest program (by per- centage) in the history of college football after the 2019 season, but it has climbed back up the standings over the last three seasons. Following its perfect season and run to a College Football Playoff title, U-M is now tied with the Buckeyes in win percentage at .734 all-time. Michigan's efforts last season also helped it leap past Ala- bama, which sat in the No. 2 spot in terms of win percentage prior to last year. The 2023 campaign was also notable in that it made Michi- gan the first program in the country to eclipse the 1,000 wins mark, a milestone the Wolverines accomplished in a 31-24 victory at Maryland on Nov. 18, 2023. — Anthony Broome Division I Football Bowl Subdivision All-Time Wins Leaders Rk. Source: NCAA.org Michigan Remains At No. 2 In All-Time Big Ten Standings Ohio State maintained its all-time wins and win percentage lead inside the Big Ten Conference after an 8-1 mark against league foes in 2023. However, Michigan gained ground with a 9-0 record in the conference, winning its third straight game over the Buckeyes and a third consecutive conference title. The storied rivals have a wide gap between themselves and the rest of the conference. The all-time standings stayed intact from the previous season. — Anthony Broome ALL-TIME BIG TEN STANDINGS Rk.
