54 THE WOLVERINE ❱ OCTOBER 2024 BY CHRIS BALAS M ichigan men's basketball head coach Dusty May has hosted several visitors already in the first two weeks of the football season, and more are in the works. One, Nyk Lewis (6-1 PG, Wash- ington, D.C., Gonzaga), is off the table after committing to Xavier, but several others are in play. Here's the latest on where things stand (in order of visits): WINTERS GRADY 6-6, 200, SF Napa (Calif.) Prolific Prep On3 Industry Ranking: No. 60 nationally Grady visited Aug. 29 and raved about May and staff. He knows Michigan assistant Jus- tin Joyner well from the coach's days at St. Mary's. He visited New Mexico State Aug. 22 and Iowa Sept. 7, and he's slated to see USC Sept. 19, Oklahoma Sept. 21, and Oregon Oct. 12. "I think the program is 100 per- cent headed in the right direction with Coach May taking over," Grady said after his visit. "He's super precise and knows exactly what he wants in his play- ers. The facilities were also really nice, and a lot of them were still being reno- vated. "Their plan for me is to play in the two/three spot where I shoot the ball, come off dribble handoffs and just be the scorer that I am. They don't want to have me change my game to be there and are going to let me be me." He's one of the more accomplished shot-makers in this class, On3's Jamie Shaw reported this summer. On3's Joe Tipton added, "there's a fair amount of smoke around Iowa," but U-M is right in the mix. RYDER FROST 6-6, 200, SF Beverly (Mass.) Phillips Exeter Academy On3 Industry Ranking: No. 93 nationally A relatively new name on the Michigan scene, Frost shot over 40 percent from three on the UAA Next Circuit this sum- mer. He jumped to No. 93 in the 2025 On3 150 and "the 6-foot-6 small for- ward has taken his first six official visits (Michigan, Sept. 1) with only a trip to Wisconsin (Sept. 14) left on the books," per Shaw. "As Frost is winding down his visits, the two schools I am hearing the most with the four-star are Notre Dame and Michigan," Shaw said. "One source men- tioned to me recently it is worth pay- ing attention to the recruiting boards of these schools. Virginia Tech is another school one source mentioned recently with Frost. "With that said, watch the remaining visits he takes and keep an eye on com- mitment timelines." TREY MCKENNEY 6-4, 205, SG Orchard Lake (Mich.) St. Mary's On3 Industry Ranking: No. 17 nationally McKenney grew up in a Michigan fam- ily and rooted for the Wolverines, vis- ited unofficially a few weeks ago and was in for his official Sept. 7. He's a Michigan State priority and will visit there, has had Georgetown near the top of his list for a while, and reportedly visited USC. "The 6-foot-4 senior out of Orchard Lake [Mich.] St. Mary's has received consistent commu- nication from the USC staff, even after their move over from Arkan- sas," Tipton said. " T h e ge n e ra l t h o u g h t i s Georgetown is the current leader, but he has been a longtime prior- ity of Michigan State, and Michi- gan has come on strong as of late." McKenney is also considering Ohio State, Notre Dame, Miami, Creighton, Oregon and UCLA. MAZI MOSLEY 6-4, 165, SG Montverde (Fla.) Academy On3 Industry Ranking: No. 57 nationally Mosley officially visited Michi- gan for the Texas football weekend and has also been to USC. He was set to travel to Iowa Sept. 14, his last official, at which point he could set a commitment date. "Coming out of his Michigan visit and into his Iowa visit, the program I con- tinue to hear has some momentum is Michigan," Shaw reported. "This one is worth continuing to monitor. … See how the Iowa visit goes and if he adds any further dates." Mosley played well at the June NBPA top 100 camp, per Shaw. "Mosley has long carried the repu- tation as a shooter. Pushing 6-foot-6, he has long arms and played with good balance," Shaw reported. "The shot was clean off the catch and off the bounce." BRAYLON MULLINS 6-4, 180, SG Greenfield (Ind.) Central On3 Industry Ranking: No. 22 nationally Mullins visited for the Texas football weekend Sept. 7 after hosting May and several other coaches at his school Sept. 4. Tennessee's Rick Barnes, North Caro- lina assistant Brad Frederick, Kentucky ❱  BASKETBALL RECRUITING Latest Intel On Michigan's Class Of 2025 Basketball Visitors Small forward Winters Grady, the On3 No. 60 prospect in the 2025 class, released a top-nine list of schools including Michigan and three Big Ten rivals: Iowa, Oregon and Southern California.
