THE WOLVERINE 2025 FOOTBALL PREVIEW ■ 37 MICHIGAN'S 2025 CAPTAINS: Best Bets The Wolverines have two captains — tight end/fullback Max Bredeson and safety Rod Moore — returning who seem like obvious choices to repeat, but will there be four again this year? Here's who should receive consider- ation in addition to the incumbents. DEFENSE — S ROD MOORE The veteran returning captain missed the season with a knee injury but was "like an- other coach on the field" during his rehab, his coaches and teammates praised, helping his replacements in any way he could. He's much more valuable providing that leadership on the field, though, and he's expected to return for fall camp. He's been one of the program's leaders for several years now. The dark horse — LB Ernest Hausmann: Hausmann has done everything right since he arrived as a sophomore in 2023, and he's become one of the team's most respected players. The former Nebraska transfer leads by example and could be that No. 2 defensive captain. OFFENSE — TE/FB MAX BREDESON Last year's captain returns for a fifth year after appearing in all 13 games with six starts at fullback, winner of the "Toughest Player Award" and Robert P. Ufer Bequest as the se- nior who demonstrates the most love and en- thusiasm for Michigan. He's one of the team's obvious leaders and appears to be a lock as captain for a second straight year. The dark horse — OL Giovanni El-Hadi: The grad student guard had a great spring, per coaches, and seems to be the leader up front. His leadership will be paramount whether or not he's voted captain.
