AUGUST 2025 ❱ THE WOLVERINE 13 ❱ INSIDE MICHIGAN ATHLETICS Charlie May is a senior entering his second season in Ann Arbor. The son of head coach Dusty May, Charlie transferred in ahead of the 2024-25 campaign following two years as a walk- on at Central Florida. Last year, the 6-foot-5, 190-pounder from Boca Raton, Fla., appeared in five games, totaling 2 rebounds in 6 minutes. Here are some things about May that you may not have known: His Experience Moving A Lot Growing Up: "I got to experi- ence a lot of different places and different types of people. Moving around a lot shaped me as a person, and it made me be able to adapt to anything in life. Very grateful for it." Favorite Restaurant In Ann Arbor: "I really like Biercamp. I go there to get a pulled pork sandwich." Best Meal He Can Cook By Himself: "I'm actually trying to learn how to cook a little bit right now. [Graduate forward] Will Tschetter cooks a lot, and I'm rooming with him this year, so he's been trying to teach me some things. I would not say I'm a very good cook right now. I'm making a lot of frozen food, honestly." Favorite Professional Athlete: "[Los Angeles Lak- ers forward] LeBron James. I've been a fan since I can remember. I'm also a big [Pacers guard] Tyrese Haliburton fan, being from Indiana." Sport He Enjoys Besides Basketball: "In the last year, I started playing golf. I love golf. I'm awful at it. I'm actually cav- ing, and I'm going to get my first lesson soon." Favorite Movie: "I'm a big fan of 'Step Brothers.' I've watched it probably 25 times. I'm also a big Harry Potter nerd." Favorite TV Show: "'The Office' is one of my favorites. I'm a big fan of 'Game of Thrones' and 'Breaking Bad.'" Why He Chose Michigan: "First and foremost, I wanted to be close to my family. And this is a prestigious institution. The University of Michigan — it doesn't get better than that. Great education, great college town. There are literally no negatives about it. I was like, 'I've got to do anything I can to go play at Michigan.'" What He Hopes To Do After Michigan: "I'm currently study- ing communications and media, but I'm still on the fence try- ing to decide between a couple things, what to do after this year. I'm thinking maybe grad school, get my master's, but I'm really still figuring it out." Favorite Memory At Michigan: "There are two that really stand out, one being the Nimari Burnett buzzer-beater against Rutgers. That was the first walk-off buzzer beater I've been a part of in college, and Nimari is one of my favorite people. And then the so-called 'Roddy Gayle game' against Texas A&M. Twenty-seven points to go to the Sweet 16 — that was one of the greatest days of my life." Overall Experience At Michigan: "It's been amazing. There's not much to complain about at all. The snow is definitely an adjustment, living in Florida the last nine, 10 years before this. I had to buy a whole new wardrobe. I didn't own very many pants, I didn't have a single winter coat. But it's been a great experience. I had a lot of fun this year." — Clayton Sayfie May appeared in five games for the Wolverines last season after transferring from Central Florida ahead of the 2024-25 campaign.
