lex McPherson looks bigger be-
cause he is bigger.
Since arriving at Penn State in
January, the Colorado transfer says he's
put on about 20 pounds. He feels stron-
ger on the field without sacrificing any
speed.

competing for significant playing
time in his first season at Penn State,
McPherson, a 6-foot-6, 254-pound
sophomore, may have made an even
more important improvement: He has a
better grasp of the defense and his role
in it.
