OCTOBER 2026 ❱ THE WOLVERINE 57 BY ANTHONY BROOME M i c h i ga n wo m e n 's b a s ke t b a l l added some veteran punch out of the transfer portal this offseason with the addition of former Stanford Car- dinal forward Courtney Ogden, who hopes to be a major contributor on a Big Ten title contender in 2026-27. Ogden, who has one season of eligi- bility remaining, has scored 734 career points over 97 games. She spent her first three years at Stanford and averaged 12.9 points and 4.3 rebounds in 30.8 minutes per game in 2025-26, shooting 51.3 percent from the floor. She scored in double digits 23 times last year, in- cluding a 26-point performance in the season finale against BYU in the WBIT quarterfinals on March 26. The 6-foot-1 graduate student has been in Ann Arbor for a couple months and has already adjusted to her new campus and new teammates. "It's been so fun," Ogden told Brian Boesch on the "Defend The Block" pod- cast on Sept. 1. "Summer is a great op- portunity to get acclimated, to get to know everybody, know my way around campus and everything. The transition has been smooth. My teammates and coaches have made it a lot easier and a lot smoother for me." A former McDonald's All-American from Atlanta, Ogden was the No. 10 overall recruit in the 2023 class with Jordan Brand Classic and WBCA All- America honors on her resume. She was Georgia's 2023 MaxPreps and Gatorade Player of the Year, averaging 22.1 points, 8.8 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 2.7 steals as a senior, and won gold with USA Bas- ketball at the 2022 FIBA U18 Women's Americas Championship. Ogden's U-M pledge made her the fifth McDonald's All-American to sign with the program, and she said she maintained a strong connection with head coach Kim Barnes Arico from her prep recruiting process. "I had a relationship with Michigan and Coach Arico before in high school," Ogden said. "When I entered the trans- fer portal, she was the second person to call me, and we had a great conversa- tion. She was like, 'Long time, no see.' "Just being able to reconnect with her, and then they're coming off an Elite Eight appearance and just a great sea- son. I'm looking to build off that. I really want to win here, and I know Arico has the same goals as me – all the players have the same goals.
