Under the Dome 87 Consecutive meetings between Notre Dame and Navy with this year's game, the longest intersectional rivalry in the Football Bowl Subdivision. The two have met every year since 1927. The second-longest uninterrupted rivalry for the Fighting Irish is USC and Purdue, teams they have played 68 straight years since 1946. A distant fourth is Michigan State and Stanford, which this year will be playing Notre Dame for the 17th year in a row. The Spartans won't be on the 2014 schedule while Stanford will. 464 Plays run from scrimmage by Notre Dame during its first seven games this year, or an average of 66.3 per game. Only 10 teams that had played seven games averaged fewer. The 1970 Notre Dame team still holds the NCAA record for most plays run per game — 92.4. 10-1 Record of Brian Kelly at Notre Dame in November games during his first three seasons. That .901 winning percentage matches the best by any Notre Dame coach in November through his first three seasons. Jesse Harper also was 10-1 from 1913‑15. Knute Rockne (1918-20) is the next closest with an 11‑1‑2 ledger (.875). Kelly also was 10-1 in the month of November during his three seasons at Cincinnati (2007-09) — not including 2-0 in December regular-season games. photo by bill panzica
