fan forum Always Love Thee, Notre Dame I wonder what the University's patriarch, Father Sorin, is thinking these days. First an anti-Catholic president gives the commencement address, then the football team walks out on the Alma Mater if we lose. Unlike other schools that are known for only football or basketball, Notre Dame is special because of the spiritual, academic and athletic sides, not just wins or losses. Of course it is hard to sing after a loss, but it seemed even more special and touching. It showed the country that win or lose, Notre Dame is still Notre Dame. All the other schools crown a different homecoming queen every year. Ours is the same every year — The Queen of Heaven and Earth, standing atop the Golden Dome with outstretched arms, holding the world in Her hand. Every Sunday the priest says, "It is truly right and just, our duty and our salvation, to always and everywhere give you thanks and praise."
