Game Preview: Navy suffered a mild concussion in the second quarter of a 19-7 loss to Western Kentucky Sept. 28 that caused him to miss the rest of the game. Starting offensive linemen Thomas Stone and Brandon Greene were also injured against the Hilltoppers, and Greene will miss the rest of the season. Reynolds, the centerpiece for Navy's offense since he took over midway through his rookie season, returned the following week but hasn't been his normal dynamic self. He battled the flu while playing against Toledo and practiced sparingly during those weeks. "Practice is always important, for anybody. Hopefully, he'll get a full week of practice and get a lot of conditioning in and it will show on Saturday," offensive coordinator Ivan Jasper told Wagner. "It's been tough. A healthy Reynolds could give Navy's offense the pieces it needs to get back on course during the second half of the season. Because of the inherent disadvantages that come with all the military academies' rosters, the margin of error is a small one. Navy finished last season 8-5 because it managed to win close games. The Midshipmen were 4-0 in games decided by a touchdown or less. The year before that, Niumatalolo's team finished 5-7 because it lost five of seven one-possession games. The 2013 season could go in either direction depending on how well the Midshipmen are able to clean up the small mistakes that have had huge consequences during the month of October. ✦ 2013 Notre Dame Schedule Date Opponent (TV) Result/Time (ET) Aug. 31 Temple (NBC) W, 28-6 Sept. 7 at Michigan (ESPN) L, 41-30 Sept. 14 at Purdue (ABC) W, 31-24 Sept. 21 Michigan State (NBC) W, 17-13 Sept. 28 Oklahoma (NBC) L, 35-21 Oct. 5 vs. Arizona State^ (NBC) W, 37-34 Oct. 19 USC (NBC) W, 14-10 Oct. 26 at Air Force (CBSSN) W, 45-10 Nov. 2 Navy (NBC) 3:30 p.m. Nov. 9 at Pittsburgh (ABC/ESPN) TBA Nov. 23 Brigham Young (NBC) 3:30 p.m. Nov. 30 at Stanford (FS1) TBA ^ Shamrock Series at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas
