fan forum misspelled in the morning newspapers as in William Tecumseh Sherman's, "I think I understand what military fame is: to be killed on the field of battle and have your name misspelled in the newspaper." Matt Hart Trenton, Mich. Carrying The Load I read in your publication that Cam McDaniel tops the list of consecutive running plays by one ball carrier with eight. I recall the 1995 home game against Boston College when Lou Holtz gave the ball to Marc Edwards on every play on the Irish's next-to-last drive in the fourth quarter. I believe Ed- wards finally fumbled inside the 10, but Notre Dame kicked a field goal on its last drive to win 20-10. How many consecutive carries did Edwards have on that drive? Ronny P. Kaye Via the Internet Mr. Kaye, good memory on your part. Notre Dame was leading 17-10 with 12:23 left when it embarked on an 18-play, 83yard drive that resulted in a 26-yard field goal for the final 20-10 score. Marc carried 12 times in the drive for 46 yards, and had seven straight carries at one point, which was one short of the record back then — and since tied and broken by Cam McDaniel (last year he had nine in a row versus Miami). From The WebSite The 14-10 victory against USC evoked some thought on BlueandGold.com that Notre Dame should schedule more night home games to create a more raucous atmosphere: DeVoeDFD: Fans get up for the big games — no matter day or night, and the big-game atmosphere is usually great. I am for one marquee night game each year. A move to a tastefully integrated Jumbotron would do more than additional night games. BigNDFan: Starting next year, NBC can request two games at Notre Dame Stadium at night. (Note: The new deal last spring that extends through 2025 allows for as many as five night games over a two-year period, which includes the off-site Shamrock Series games.) AJOlson: They should play more night home games. Maybe the crabby, no-fun-allowed-at-the-game old people will be in bed by then. GoIrish2012: Much better atmosphere and can have more than one big recruiting weekend. Sure you can do it for day games as well, but kids love prime time. IrishinBuffalo: Two night game a year would be perfect. Cjcraft1582: You guys remember the best time of your life? Mine was playing high school football at night, under the lights, the rain, the fog, snow if I was lucky. … Fans really seem to get more involved in night games everywhere. Nstalter: The entire stadium experience is on life support. Night games will definitely provide a boost. However, much more needs attention. The turf is an outrage, the bench seats are badly out of date and a growing disgrace, the restrooms are ugh, lack of elevators are a huge minus to older fans, and the scoreboards are less than high school level.
